Any suggestions on what to do for a Marine wedding?

Postby jomei69 » Sat Oct 26, 2002 12:51 am

I'm getting married to my Marine next year and we're planning on having a big wedding since we have lot's of family and friends. He is going to be wearing his dress blue alphas. Three of the groomsmen are also wearing their dress blues. My soon to be brother in law and the best man are not in the Marines. Should the wear the traditional black tux with either a red or blue tie, My soon to be mother in law suggested a navy blue tux but I'm not leaning towards that. I'm also not sure about what colors I would go with for the bride's maids and flowers. I have asked my fiance for his suggestions and I get the same answer every time "Sweetie I want this wedding to be what you've always dreamed it would be I know whatever you decide will be perfect". Also we are planning to have an outdoor wedding

Dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and other marine decorations would be good.

If the groomsmen wear black tux's and red ties, have the girls in red! Blue and white flowers? I think it'll look great!

In one way you are very fortunate that you and your fiance will not be arguing about anything since he is letting you choose. His mother should not have a say. So it is your decision. The Marine uniform makes such a huge statement that I tend to say that the borther in law and best man should simply wear a regular black tux and black bow tie. It is too cutesy to have a red tie and blue even is less than traditional. If they wear navy suits, not tux, then navy or marine blue tie would be fine. I wish I could be there to see it. Will they have swords? Best wishes to you both and appreciation to your fiance for his service to our country.
