I am applying for several LL.M. graduate programs in international law at universities in Europe. I have a bachelor degree in politics and government, so a related field, but not exactly law. What I am getting stuck on is the research proposal for the "LL.M. Programme in Comparative, European and International Law" at European University Institute in Italy. Under the section on how to apply, it says the following:
Candidates for the LL.M. programme must present a short research statement (max. 1,000 words), in English or French, within the research areas areas covered by the Department. The research statement must specify the research question addressed, the approach adopted and the motivations of the potential researcher.
I am wanting to explore the area of supranational government and international law. Currently, this is what I'm thinking about:
- The role of international law in the creation and empowerment of supranational institutions
- The role and potential ability of international law to protect and proliferate human rights
- The role of international law in the relations between governments & supranational entities
- The role of international law in the relations between supranational entities themselves
I have 2 main concerns:
1) is this 'solid enough' as is, or will they want something more specific. I have found several topics in the current research topics (see last link below), so maybe I could reference that
2) what do they want to know when they say "the approach adopted"
thank you for any possible clarification/help.... relevant links are below:

the 3 that caught my eye with this one were the Global Governance Program, The Impact of Human Rights Law on General International Law, and Towards a World Court of Human Rights. Thanks for any help/insight
