Are criminal justice degrees and/or FBI agents in demand in the US of A?

I have always been interested in Law Enforcement, FBI, criminology, and the like. I know criminology is a very competitive field with many applicants, but is it in demand? Also, is it worth it risk and salary wise?

Please note, I am trying to apply for college, therefore this question is not for fun but is serious. So, if you have no idea what you are talking about please do not answer.
