Are you suppose to get overtime after 40 hours in michigan?

I just started working at a towing company in detroit and just found out by another driver that we don't get paid overtime.we work 72 hours a week and also only get paid once a month! And we all get paid hourly .this is a pretty new company and I know that they are suppose to have a labor board poster on their wall but don't.this is an all arabic company except for me so most of these guys that I work with don't know that there are labor laws and I don't know them too good.so are you suppose to get time and a half after 40 hours a week if you get paid hourly?plus monthly checks are already 3 days late!

The employer is obligated to pay time and a half after 40 hours in a given week. They can pay monthly; there is no restriction regarding that. But they can't get around the overtime.

You'll probably lose your job by bringing this up, but they are going to have problems with the state department of labor anyway.

In Michigan law it states "Employees are entitled to one-and-one-half times their regular rate of pay for weeks in which they work in excess of 40 hours."
