I'm 15-years-old and have severe ADD. Because of my condition, I cannot drive (I get distracted very easily and could easily hit a pedestrian or another car), perform in school to the best of my abilities (I'm a math whiz and have always loved science, but I have difficulty paying attention to the teacher for long periods of time) and even typing a paragraph as short as this has taken me quite a while (I need to reread what I've written every half of a line or so. Of course, I think that medication would help me, but my mother is completely against pharmaceutical drugs. She has denied me medical treatment before, but her wacky home remedies have usually pulled through. She has no remedy for this, and even gets angry with me for spacing out instead of working with me. Can I, within the perimeters of some child-protective law or another, seek out a drug that's right for me without parental consent?
