Battlefield 3: Anyone else feel the Reviving system is messed up?

Postby nemausus36 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 12:20 pm

I just cut your teammate's throat. I snuck up behind him while he wasn't looking and stuck my knife in his jugular. He will not survive this, and i've just got my 100 points and personal satisfaction bonus for the distance i ran round the map to sneak up an entire squad. But wait...there's a massive Defibrillator icon on your minimap so you ignore everything else on the map (bullets, rockets etc) and you run straight toward your teammate that's lost 90% of his blood through his neck, zap him with the defib pads (that restart his heart and pump the remaining 10% of his blood out), and bingo, he's instantly back to life with 100%, like a newborn baby. NO. I know when you talk about realism in video games, it's never gonna be perfect, but you can revive teammates at leqast 10 times before they have to wait to respawn, no matter how they died; headshot, knife kill, roadkill by tank/fighter jet, tank cannon headshot, and they always have 100% health when they are "brought back". At least on BFBC2 multiplayer when you headshotted an enemy, they were unrevivable and had to wait to respawn. I cant tell you the number of times ive sneaked up on whole sqauds and knifed two or three, only to be killed by the second, and in my dying view i see my killer magically zapping my kills back to life. "oh thanks doc, tyhe three inch gash on my heart's doing fine now, back to camping like an idiot again!" Why would Dice mess around with a good system and allow such ridiculous mechanics? Operation Metro is an absolute joke against whole medic teams. If youve played it it's just stupid.
Are they going to change this at all? Theyre already talking about Battlefield 4, and all the DLC updates are already scheduled so i dont think they care. And all the players would whine if they changed anything even slightly, but not me.
Can we just all agree it's a stupid system?
It should be:
Revival for body shot kills only. Not headshot revivals, not knife kill revivals. And explosion kills, but not direct-impact explosive kills (like with RPG or LAV turret). And then, only once. Yes, once. And any damage you took *OVER* the 0%, applies to your revived health, deducted from 100%. You get one life or maybe 2 if youre lucky, so do your best with it. It'd make players more cautious, stop entire medic teams suffer no losses against other teams that dont want to have to play as the assault class to win, and would even the game out more. I mean, you can spawn on your teammates; isn't that easy enough to get right back into the action without needing to be revived every 3 seconds for the whole game? What do you think?

I share your anger with this matter, and I believe that if this problem is revealed to the right people, DICE may change how to game works with defib's in the next game patch.
