Can a store sue me for loss of revenue or slander?

Postby zackary42 » Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:25 pm

I was hurt in a grocery store, and they will not pay the medical bill, can I ask people not to shop there, or can the store in turn sue me if they lose customers?

Assuming you are in the u.s., you have the right to voice your opinion. How and where you voice your opinion may be regulated, and you have no right to remain in the parking lot of the store once you have been told to leave, but that was not your question.

It's called "Tortious interference" and yes, they can sue.

The mere fact that you were in the store when you got hurt does not make them liable, rather you have to show that your getting hurt was a result of their negligence (and if your negligence contributed then you are entitled to less compensation).

Only if they can prove you lied. Sue them, they are trying to scare you, not to sue them. Have a attorney sue them and their insurance co.
