In a few jurisdictions, "damage to reputation" is statutorily collectible. However, it's difficult to prove, and the monetary award isn't likely to be worth the time or effort.

The statutes are hold-overs from the time in which "a lady's reputation" could be ruined, causing her family marginalization within the community. It's extremely difficult to have a comparable scenario in modern times.

No. You have to lose something monetarily, or your reputation has to be impacted so deeply with your family and friends that it can never be repaired, which would have to be something extremely severe to occur.

If there is a loss to your reputation (even though no monetary loss), where it causes consequential stress because of those close to you questioning you because of the fabrications -- then YES, you still have a valid lawsuit.
