An oral contract is still a contract, even though with a complete assortment of caveats, quid pro quos, ipso factos, e pluribus unums, and other issues that will result in you to invest more on lawyers than your salary. Is An Employer Required To Put The Compensation Formula In Writing?

No. There is no legal requirement that any such employment contract be written down. It might have been a good idea to get that formula written down when you first started work, or at least clearly stated. At this point however, you may find it difficult. Push your employer to write down specific numbers now, and you may find yourself with a pissed off boss. This is likely to make your future compensation less rewarding yet.
