Can i argue in district civil court, tamilnadu by myself without appointing a lawyer.?

A mobile service provider is going to file a petition against me for non payment of due. I have not paid the due since i found some wrong statements in my bill. They refused to accept that they have made some mistake on that. I can prove that they have billed wrongly. If they will take legal action means can i appear and argue by myself without appointing a lawyer or whether the court will appoint a lawyer for me at free of cost?
Can i file a complaint in consumer court? Please clarify..
Whether the mobile service provider can file this complaint in other than my hometown? What can i do if they have filed the complaint not in my hometown? Can i ask the court to switch over the case to my hometown?

Yes you can argue your case yourself in any court in India, lawyer is only to represent you and if you can do the job yourself no one will stop you even up to the Highest Court which is the Supreme Court of India.
You can file complaint to the District Consumer Forum against the mobile service provider company if there was deficiency of service on their part while providing it to you.
The Jurisdiction of the court that can entertain the the Petition/Complaint filed by either parties depend on the provisions with regard to territorial jurisdiction as provided under the Civil Procedure Code or the relevant Act concerning the dispute. Usually the district where the head office of the company exist or where the dispute arose between the parties or where the property in dispute is located are places where the suit can be filled.
The change of jurisdiction can be obtained from the High Court for from one district to another in same state & from the Supreme Court of India from one state to another in India. Will the change of jurisdiction allowed is based on the facts & circumstances on the case that court will look in to so don't be so sure you can get it done just because you so desire.
