Can I be fired for political views in New York?

I read that New York has an anti-discrimination law pertaining to "political activities." These SEEM to be defined as running for office, raising money, etc. What about simply expressing political views online? If I make political statements, on facebook for instance, could I be fired for them if my employer found out? Again, I am in New York. An article I read says you can't be fired for protesting in New York but that isn't mentioned in the law itself. Thanks for your help!

Legally no, but if they want to get rid of you your job can be eliminated, they can say you were late too often, all sorts of excuses that avoid the real issue.
