Can I get emergency Medicaid?

Postby baigh75 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 11:10 pm

Last week I had personal injury done in a dental case at the Free Clinic in Cleveland. They referred me to repair it at an area Dental School, which I did. My follow up visit is tomorrow (Monday). As I don't know for sure if the procedure worked, I fear I still have a problem. I'm indigent & don't want my son to have to foot the bill for me. When looking at the Medicaid site I don't qualify: I'm too young (56), not pregnant, and not on Disability. Is it possible to get temporary/emergency Medicaid to resolve this issue? I'd love to go forward with an oral surgeon if need be and be anesthetized for any future procedures. I don't think I can take any more of the trauma that's happened thus far. Any ideas or questions I can ask my County Case Manager would be a help too. Someone told me that the Cleveland Clinic has free services for the indigent. Any info regarding the Cleveland Clinic would be helpful too. Thank you.

Can I get emergency Medicaid?

If you live in Ohio you would have to contact the Ohio Dept of Human Services (or the contact info on website). Contact them in person. Even if you do not qualify for Medicaid, sometimes they can get around the basic qualifications, or can get you on other programs available.

Also, Medicaid does not pay much in most states for Dental. And many Dentists do not take new patients as the states are taking too long to pay. You may want to look into a different Medical/Dental state university like Ohio State. Often they have very skilled Doctors and Dentists.

Does your state OFFER emergency Medicaid? Does Medicaid COVER any dental in your state? Most states, Medicaid doesn't provide dental coverage for adults.

Cleveland, Texas - no such horse. Cleveland, OH - dental coverage for adults is limited to fillings, extractions, cleanings, and root canal on front teeth only. They'll yank that tooth out, not give it a crown.

Call them yourself. You live there. There is no such thing as emergency Medicaid.
