Can I get my lasts months rent deposit back?

If i decided not to move in and gave rent for paying on a month-to month basis. I havent moved in yet, and the I'm not planning on moving in. The lease begins May 1st 2012. My dad is sick and I need to go back home for the summer so i can not move in. Will he give me back to money? Does he legally have to?

Side note:
CANADIAN ONTARIO LAW!
cant find it under the landlord and tenant board.
