Can I Own And Buy A Handgun In Mi

Hi,

I have tried to purchase a shotgun from a sporting goods store and I have been denied doing so. I went to the police station in MI where I live and the cop looked into my background and found that I have a felony conviction as a juvie) from when I was 15 in 1995 for B&E. I only have 1 other thing on my record as an adult for possession of marijuana in 2000. Can I own a handgun and a shotgun and purchase one in Michigan? Why can I buy a pistol but not a shotgun then? Help me please understand what I can do!

Thanks for asking. With a felony conviction, and a drug conviction, you will not be able to buy either a handgun, shotgun or a rifle. Federal Law prohibits the sale of firearms to felons. You have some options to clear your record. Get legal help to file to expunge or pardon your records. Best regards,
