Can I sue for Malpractice and Negligence?

Postby gervaso81 » Sun Nov 20, 2011 8:49 am

I have been suffereing from bladder problems for about 5 years. I started seeing a Urologist 1 year ago. He prescribed me medication for IC, overactive bladder, pyridium, percocet, and other medications to see which worked for my bladder. None worked. He performed a cystoscopy bladder distention and looked for cancer, bacteria, and stones. He discharged me as finding nothing. Lastly, he did a temporary surgery called interstim neuro modulation. He took the wires out of me and scheduled me to have a permanent interstim surgery a week later. I went to the appointment to have the permanent surgery, and found out I had a bladder infection. He postponed my surgery for 15 days later and dischaged me with antibacterial medicine to heal the bladder infection. 2 days later I woke up in the middle of the night with severe abdonminal pain. I went to the emergency room and they found blood in my urine. They asked me "have you ever had a catscan done?" I say "no". They said they were going to do one. They did one and found "multiple stones and lacerations" in my bladder. They said that my doctor misdiagnosed me and I needed to get the bladder stones removed before I got the interstim neuro modulation surgery done. They discharged me and told me to follow up with my urologist. The same day, I called my urologist and told him what happened and he acted surprised and said he wanted to see me that day for an emergency appointment. I agreed to come in. However, I was delayed 24 hours because I had to go pick up my medical records of my catscan. So, I called him back and the staff said he was "on a vacation until next friday." I called his emergency after hours line and NOBODY would return my call. SO I went back to the emergency room and they reffered me to a different urologist within the next buisness day. I have records of everything kept. SHOULD I SUE? HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH?

Can I sue for Malpractice and Negligence?

Suing takes years, is very emotionally draining , and patients seldom win unless it is a class action suit.

Are you healthy now?

I would just get on with my life.
