Can Mom Give Custody To Stepdad

Postby Evin » Thu May 15, 2014 11:57 am

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Missouri

I am getting divorced after ten years of marriage and have been a dad to my two stepsons, ages 13 and 15, just as long.
Their father does not pay child support, the state in which the case is held or their mom cannot find him and he has not contacted his boys since 2001.
Their mom wishes they stay with me because she feels she could not provide for them financially and provide a stable home and would like to grant me custody.
Will she be able to do so without giving up her parental rights?
