This depends:on the Jurisdiction you are in.In some places you are technically only have to be "Called to the bar"The reality is that only legally educated and tested persons will ever be called.This means that a self educated person could in theory pass the BAR exams but you would have to be sponsored by a member of the BAR . Not going to happen anywhere anytime soon.
