an investigation in my workplace is underway. some co workers have made statements about me which have been written and filed on my employee file which are hurtful to my career and my health ie stress can i sue?

If you have truly been damaged by lies told by coworkers, then yes you can sue for defamation. However, the problem is that you have to be able to prove that they are lies. You word against theirs not necessarily proof.

They are allowed their own opinion of you. You cannot sue them for anything. If in the UK, suing is not free. How many thousands of pounds have you got to waste.

No you can't sue and win. They are statements of their opinion in an investigation at your workplace. To win a lawsuit you would have to prove malicious intent and more widespread than just a direct response to questioning.
