You can sue for almost anything in the U.S, but that doesn't mean you'll actually win.
For example, the most facepalm inducing one I remember reading about is this case where this guy named Richard Overton sued Bud Light because it did not get him any girls like he saw in the commercials, so he sued for emotional distress and financial depreciation. The price? $10000. It's ridiculous when you think about it, and the case was later dismissed. Here's a quick synopsis -

Then there was the famous Wendy's finger story. This lady Ayala supposedly "found" a 1.5 inch fingertip in her chili and sued the company (She actually put it in herself). So when an investigation team traced it back to her, she tried dropping the suit but ended up being charged and going to prison.

There was another one about this old lady that sued McDonald's for almost $3 million because she suffered third degree burns from dropping a coffee drink on her. She was actually the one who dropped it on herself, wasn't an employee or anything. I think she ended up getting around $640k.
Says a lot about our legal system huh?
