Chinese homosexual guy looking for help?

Hi,
Sorry for taking your time. I'm currently in deep desperation and I'll be grateful if you can give me some help. I'm a Chinese resident and I'm homosexual. I've been in love with my American boyfriend for years but we cannot get together very often because same-sex marriage is not recognized in China and not legal in a state level in US. During the past 2 years, internet has been the main method we use to connect with each other, because he lives in US and I'm in China. It's so painful that we both have to suffer from be apart from each other for such a long time. And I don't know when the US federal government could pass the same-sex marriage law. Fortunately, I heard that same-sex marriage is recognized and legal in Canada. I'm thinking if it's feasible for us to get married in Canada. Or is there any other way that I can live with my boyfriend? I'd appreciate it if you can give me any suggestion? I'm afraid there could be lots of trouble carrying it out since neither of us is Canadian citizen. I'm also thinking about immigrating to Canada under the self-employment immigration category first because I'm a freelance comic book artist/illustrator. But I don't know if the application will be successful.
I'm not sure if you will have the chance to read this message. But I'm still in hope that I can get some help from you.

Canada hosts more Chinese immigrants (and more US immigrants) than any other North American country. You should both look into the qualifications you would need to move there, get married and have a life together.

sorry i just have to tell you than the US is currently not an option , you can actually get married in some states but doing so would not grant you anything when it comes to immigration since immigration is a Federal matter .. anyways yes i believe you could apply for a visa for Canada and have a life there , and perhaps some day the US will recognize your marriage at the Federal level ..

I think you should get married in Canada, it's legal there.

You will have the right to get married in Canada regardless of your citizenship.

However, even though Canada and some US states do recognize gay marriage, the US Federal government does NOT recognize it for immigration purposes.

Therefore, even if you get married in Canada (or anywhere else for that matter), your marriage will NOT give you the right to move the US with your spouse.

You or your friend will need to find a way to move to Canada if you intend to live together

By the way, Australia and New Zealand do not recognize gay marriage officially, but do allow gay partners to migrate together if one of them is eligible, so you may also consider it as an option.

Hello, congratulations to you and your fiance! Right now in the US 6 states allow same sex marriage. Those states are New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, and New Hampshire, so if you get married there, there is no need to go to Canada! Best of luck to both of you, sooner or later it will be legal everywhere

i know how you feel as china and chinese culture does not recongnise or encourage homosexuality (my husband is chinese and he told me this) i think you should go to america to get married as some states do recongnise same sex marriage one of them being las vegas (ithink) its the same i nthe uk we have a civil partnership wich is a same sex marriage but youd have to go onto the ukba's website to see about how you could do this in the uk.

Actually, where I live in America (new jersey), same sex marriage IS legal. It's just some states that don't accept it. I'm not so sure about Canada, but Canada is a great country with very nice people so, if it does accept homosexual marriages, definitely move there :3!
Good luck to you and your boyfriend :D! It sounds like you both love each other very much ^_^.
(BTW: If there's any homophobic comments, ignore them. People just can't get over the fact that gay pairings are smexy ;D)
