Comm law libel question?

Postby matyas » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:32 pm

The cost of defending against a libel suit is as much of a problem for the press as multi-million dollar judgments.

True or false?

Comm law libel question?

You're going to have to reword the question. A multi-million dollar judgment is fact, a libel suit may or may not result in judgment, so the libel suit has to be the lesser evil.

Comm law libel question?

This question makes little sense.

The costs of defending against libel suits is figured into the media company's legal department budget. Whether that's a problem depends on their financial resources.

Whether it's as much of a problem as multi million dollar judgments is a judgment call in itself. It may be as much of a problem as having cows in their elevators.
