Commercial Property into Residence?

Postby darrell » Sat Oct 29, 2011 6:02 pm

My husband and I are house hunting and came across a property that is zoned as commercial. It's a bar with living quarters on top floor. We still have to check the local zoning laws. However, if we did consider this property, would it be as hard to purchase as one that didn't have living space?

Unless it is dual zoned you can't live there.

You will need a commercial loan, which is harder then residential. If the zoning is only for a bar, which is not that uncommon, you will need proper licensing as well.
