In 1996 Congress passed a law that said online service providers like America Online
A are not liable for defamatory comments carried on the system if the material was provided by another content provider.
B are liable for all defamatory matter transmitted by the service.
C are liable for defamatory matter transmitted by the service if it has remained in the system for at least ten days.

Under the Communications Decency Act of 1996,
"No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider."

Therefore the best answer choice is "A", not liable.
