Professor Cox,
I would like to write my congratulations to the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but am uncertain of how to properly address my letter, in form of greeting. While I entertain no assumptions I will receive a reply, I of course would like to ensure I write it correctly.
In addressing the letter at the top(prior to the greeting), how do I correctly address this to both of them?
Then, in my greeting at the start of the letter, how do I address them? I wish to be more formal, and don't feel right addressing them as 'Sir' or 'Ma'am.'
Am I able to address them on behalf of my family? I am a clan member in a Scottish clan, by blood, albeit with records only dating back as far as 1722 - can I say "On behalf of the Clan MacBlank of Blank, I" or would it be improper?
Finally, what is the best way to sign off the letter? Kindest regards? Warmest regards? Or doesn't it matter? Am I supposed to add 'God Save The Queen' at the end?
Thank you, and looking forward to your advice.
