Crazy Neighbors

We had a couple of Gang members rent the home next to ours in northern Ca. They had 4 pit bulls and both my wife %26 I were attacked on our property. We took no action however the city and the animal control did. They filed on them and held a hearing and the dogs were deemed a danger. The neighbors then started making up things about us and told the police that they saw me scratch their car. I was given a misdemeanor ticket for vandalism(Under $250.00)and a court date. That was 9 months ago and the DA still has not filled the case. WE sold our home and moved away right away as my wife became scared. we would like to leave CA but this matter is just sitting there, what is the statute of limitations on this thing? It is completely a  made up lie and there is no case, but when will it go away?

Sorry for the problem.  If you were given a ticket and a court date, what happen when you went to court ?  Normally if a citation is issued and a court date on your appearance in court there should have been an arraignment where you would enter a plea, presumably not guilty.  Then there is another hearing scheduled.  The prosecutor then needs to prep a case.  I would check with he court to see what they say the status of the case is.  However your question is in regards to a statute of limitations.  Normally for misdemeanors it is a year.  You can also call the prosecutors office and inquire as to their status with the case also.
