Criminal Justice Employment?

Postby gustav » Sat Jul 21, 2012 4:02 am

Hey, I have a question about employment in the Criminal Justice field.

I'm entering my last semester at school, and getting my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. When I first started going to school I wanted to go into Law Enforcement. After taking numerous courses, some dealing with Police work, Ethics, and Criminal Law, I've found that I've enjoyed the Law part much more than the Police part. I was thinking about possibly going to Law School but I hear that the demand for Law is, it's almost impossible to get a job nowadays.

My question is, what other jobs could I get that deal with Criminal Law, being in the courts, Constitution, etc. Something along those lines that I could possibly get with a Criminal Justice degree or maybe go for more schooling?

Thanks.

If you got a Masters degree you could be a Criminologist, although that may not be exactly what you're looking for. If you got a job with your Criminal Justice Bachelor degree and worked for 3 years as a private investigator, police, probation officer, ATF agent, corrections officer, or parole officer, you could apply to the FBI. You have to be at least 23 but under 37, be a US citizen, have a Bachelor degree, have 3 years work experience, have a drivers license, have 20.20 vision in at least 1 eye. Pass the 20 week training & background investigation. Although you wouldn't be working with the courts it would certainly be much more interesting and pay better than other jobs in criminal justice.
