Defamation/slander??=hostile Work Environment

Postby Birtel » Fri Jun 06, 2014 8:30 pm

I am a high level supervisor, supervisoring 2 departments.  The particular dept. involved in this incident are three hispanic women.  I am white, late 20's blonde hair. My co-worker, a fellow supervisor in another department happened to see a part of my tattoo on my back, that I keep so well covered, and asked if it was a swastika.  I said it was not.  It is not a swastika, it is a maze.  Never thinking anything of it, the receptionist the next day tells me that this supervisor, who is a 50 year old hispanic woman told my three subordinates that their "White Boss" has a swastika tattoo on her back.  As far as I know, HR has told me that she is being disciplined, but I don't see anything.  I am so angry and I even felt I needed to expose my tattoo to those three spanish girls to prove it wasnt a swastika.  I am so uncomfortable leaving my office and I hate going to work now.  Do I have any recourse?

Amanda:

You would really need to speak to an employment attorney in your state.  While Barnette Law Offices, LLC does do employment law, it is very specific according to state authority.  Unless you're in Tennessee, I cannot advise you as to whether you have a viable cause of action.
