Do tenants have the rights to get access to video servalance as well? ?

Postby jolie » Mon Jul 16, 2012 11:52 pm

Can tenants get access to all video camera as well, since we live in the building. Why are these building acting like federal buildings? If they so called have these cameras in public places then we should have the rights to watch as well. Is there any law that protect the tenants too.

You have no "expectation of privacy" in a public area, it's not illegal to video you there, and you have no rights to see what's on the tape. If there was a specific reason you needed to, for instance as evidence of a crime, you would have to go to court and get a Court Order for them to release it.

Nope. The cameras are in public areas where you have no expectation of privacy so they can film you there all they want.

Kinda like how if you film a bunch of people sitting on their front porch, they don't have any right to view your personal tapes either.

It is misnomer to say tenant. In true sense no body is tenant because every body is belonging to the state and every body is the subjects of the state. It is the responsibility of the State to give shelter to each and every body. So tenants are also the bona-fide owners of the state as such they have every right to get access to video surveillance as well.
