Why is the USA against British citizens migrating to America?

US immigration laws are fair but limited and preferential treatment is given to all Hispanics. The system is highly unbalanced in their favor. It's the ineffective enforcement that has made US immigration a dismal failure and an affront to every Legal immigrant group with the exception of unlimited illegal Hispanics who are the only beneficiaries.

what you quote isn't evidence that the US is against immigrating British citizens. It just means that some British citizens find it difficult to immigrate to the US.

Really the same laws apply to British citizens than to any other citizens. Actually the fact that they can't participate in the greencard lottery is proof that it isn't particularly difficult for them. Because it means that there are already a lot of British citizens immigrating to the US, so they are not underrepresented among immigrants, so they can't participate in the greencard lottery. The official name of the greencard lottery is diversity visa lottery. A country is only eligible for the greencard lottery if not more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the previous five years have come from this country.

The "proof" you provided is true for all people around the world. Who gives out jobs to anyone without ever meeting in person? Actually, people of some countries are more favored, as they are able to walk into America and go for an interview if needed. Unfortunately, others are not so lucky. Why is it so hard to find an employer, especially if you visit the country often? And once you are employed you will be soon in a position to establish your permanent residency.
At that time don't forget the plight of the likes of us Indians and Chinese, who presently have ZERO hope of ever making it, even if they have jobs!

Nobody is against legal British immigrants to the US. But you have to realize that everyone, plus his brother, wants to move to the US. There is an extremely long line, and we have to make some criteria, and you have to meet it before you can come here.

So why are you so against Americans starting a new life in YOUR country? There are so many rules blocking me from having what I want. Wah, wah, wah! I want! I want! I want!

Third World immigrants, especially those from Mexico, are at an advantage because our immigration policy favors "family reunification". Since most Europeans do not have Americans who are close relatives (don't have relatives who are recent immigrants) it's harder for them to use this route to immigrate--and that's the route by which we get most legal immigration. Amnesties such as the 1986 one have helped to give Mexico and other Third World countries even more of a lock. Legalized illegal aliens got to sponsor THEIR family members to come here. Unfortunately, the family members (parents, adult kids, siblings with their families) sponsored to come here are also often unskilled and uneducated, so we end up subsidizing them. What we need to do is do away with most if not all "family reunification" of this sort and place more emphasis on skills, education, and knowledge of English. Family relationship should be one factor among many.

Why should wannabe-immigrants from the UK should have anymore rights than wannabe-immigrants from France? Or Italy? Or Ireland? Or Sweden?

The rules are the same for every single nationality, and if you wish to migrate to the US, you have to comply. Being British does not give you any special treatment.

It's a very self-centred question to ask, I'm afraid.

I think so, because of our "special relationship" with the British. I feel that because they are our true friends among all our other "allies" the immigration laws should be a little more flexible for them. Here is why I feel they should be allowed to emigrate freely to the U.S.-

I think it's unfair for people who want to come here legally to jump through so many hoops while Mexicans are allowed to invade us with no regard for our laws. Of course it doesn't help that the politicians who are allowing it have no regard for our laws either.
