1. In 1915, upon his return from South Africa, M. K. Gandhi stayed at the university campus and met Swami Shraddhanand, it was during this visit that Swami Shraddhanand gave Gandhi, the title of Mahatma, after that he was best known around the world as Mahatama Gandhi to this day.
2. On 23 December 1926 Swami Shraddhanand was assassinated by a Muslim fanatic named Abdul Rashid, who entered his home at Naya Bazar, Delhi, posing as a visitor. Upon his death, Gandhiji moved a condolence motion at the Guwahati session of the Congress on December 25, 1926.
It is a false proganda that Gandhi supported that Muslim fanatic who killed Swami Shraddhanand.
It may be true that Gandhi did not support Bhagat Singh and did not try to save him from death sentence. Perhaps he knew that British will not leave Bhagat Singh alive no matter who intervenes.
