Do you think that I am getting a good settlement for my workers compensation claim?

Postby spengler » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:41 pm

I injured my back at work in April this year. I have been on light duties and restricted hours (12 hours) a week for the past month, light duties for most of the time since April.

I have since resigned from work due to the fact that I dont think my back will ever get better if I stay in that profession.

So my work has offered a settlement of $2000. Do you think that this is a good payout? Do you think I could ask for more? If so how do I go about it?

I have given a months notice (contract agreement) but work informed me today that I am able to leave earlier... once I have agreed on my settlement but I wont be paid out for that month that I have given notice. I'll only get my settlement.

I live in Perth, Australia.

Hi, I am only studying law - I am a beginning student. We have been learning about Torts - compensation (negligence) law. To me $2000 does not sound like a good settlement. I think you should contact a decent lawyer right
