Do You Think Working In Library Is A Good Job As Your First Job?

I am organizing to work in library when I enter college and I would like to know your opinion on this.Thank you.

I worked in a couple of libraries by means of college and law school. It can be a excellent job for a student. Generally they let you do jobs that let you study most of the time, like manning the circulation desk. They normally have reference librarians for difficult concerns. You can find out about how a library performs, which can be quite interesting, specially if you like books. Also, they may let you slide with your personal library fines at times. But it can also be kind of boring. If you do some actual library work, like interlibrary loans or acquisitions, you have to be fairly detail-oriented. But you wouldn't do that to commence off. Librarians are normally nice men and women. Their job is not too stressful, and they get to aid men and women. You will like them.

yeah. libraries are great first jobs. i very good friend of mine worked at our public library throughout high school and now he just graduated from college and is going to law school.... and he still works at the library. learn to type fast because some libraries will put you up at the circulation desk earlier if you know how to type pretty fast and accurately. do it. and if you dont like it you can always get another job.

I think it's a great first job! Actually, it WAS one of my first jobs, and I think it will be great experience for you. You?ll get to see a lot of different books, and you?ll learn a bit about information science. Keep your eyes and ears open, and try to learn as much as you can. Poke around in the reference department when you have some free time. This job can teach you a lot about how do research. Yes. I think a library is a very good first job, as it usually doen't pay bad, you get to work with customers, and get to see a large selection of the books available at the library, that you yourself wouldn't ever think of reading.On the other side, the library can be a bit boring, so you have to take that into account of course. If you really want to know if you will enjoy working there, visit the library, and check out the current employees there. Are they all old, or are there also younger people? Would you normally have a chat with any of them? Would you know what to talk about to them? This is probably a very important question to ask yourself, as you are going to spend quite some time with them, and books have a habit of not talking back to you.Hope you are going to enjoy your first job!
