Does anyone have any tips for long term guests?

Postby delrico » Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:20 am

My brother, his wife and his wife's mother will be coming to stay with us in the US from Switzerland from a week before Thanksgiving until the day after New years. We have 2 bedrooms that have a jack and jill bath that we plan to put them into.

Does anyone have any tips or a checklist of things I should have ready for their visit? I should mention that I have only met my sister in law and her mother once in person for a few weeks but we are pretty close and looking forward to spending quality time together. So anything that can make them more comfortable, part of the family and part of the holidays is important.

empty drawers and nice hangers for their clothes. Nice big fluffy towels, washclothes, and hand towels. It is also nice to have a hamper for their dirty clothes. Availability of an iron and board. A special place in the cupboard for their snacks. It would be nice if there was chair in the bedroom with a light for reading, extc. in case they wanted a bit of quiet time. Maybe a couple of books of the US.or quirky things like humor.
Also if they will be driving how about a GPS? They may need an extra hair dryer. I like to put a little basket in the bedroom with some pens, paper for notetaking, just little niceys. In bath some deodorant, a washcloth, shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, and body lotion just the same as at a hotel.
Accent the room with colors of the fall. When they are there take a picture and put it in frame for a going home gift, one of them, and one of you. Everyone likes pictures of themselves on holidays.
Enjoy
