Does anyone know where/how i can get help with loan modifications?

Postby denys » Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:49 am

i am aware the party line answer is do it yourself, why pay someone to do it for you

for two years now i have spoken with my lenders and other lenders about loan modifications or refinancing in an attempt to get mortgage payments that are in line with the current value of the property and that i can live with. none of them have shown the slightest interest in helping me

we have all seen or heard commercials from attorneys offering their services in obtaining a loan modification. i previously asked a question about a specific law firm

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvX3ntlXbf3BAfAhl_W5cALsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120717094937AADXrgH

has anyone had/heard of an attorney successfully getting a loan modification for their client? if so, any information you could give me about the law firm utilized would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Banks are under regulations to re-finance you if you qualify.
If not, you could sue them.
Not sure what in the world a law firm would do, except charge you money.

A member of my family fell for a scam from a law firm.
She paid $2,500. Then they wanted $900.
One day she called them and the company was out of business.
She got scammed. Lost her house anyway.

AVOID the scammers
Obama has pushed through some new regs and banks now have to give you ONE contact person
The banks have been dilatory and inefficient, but are being held more accountable now
Check out Making Home Affordable plan at your lender
You can ONLY do a Loan Mod through your own lender
With another lender you would be doing a Re-finanance
Keep in mind that you must show some capacity to pay regularly to qualify for anything. . . .you don't give specifics. . . .those who have lost their jobs and used up their unemployment bennies and not found new employment will NOT qualify because they have no capacity to repay anything, and there's no reason for lender to go through the costs and paperwork to do a Loan Mod
There are rules for Loan Mod and not everyone qualifies
But rates are great right now, and there are some good refi's

Sorry but you probably don't qualify for a loan modification:

To qualify you must have trouble paying your mortgage due to financial hardship. That could be because you have had an increase in your mortgage payments, or because your earned income was reduced or you suffered a hardship (like medical problems) that increased your bills, or, you can show that you soon will be unable to make your payments. You will be required to enter an affidavit of financial hardship.
- you currently don't have earned income = your SSA has not changed. Just because your IRA has declined in value does not mean you don't have the ability to pay.

All homes must be owner/occupied. Also, if you cannot afford the home due to job loss or a complete inability to pay, you will not be eligible.
