Does the wage gap exist?

Postby mate » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:31 pm

I don't believe it exists. If it did businesses would fire all the men and hire all women to take their place for 23% less. IMO Men earn more then women because we do more dangerous jobs, (mining, military, oil workers, deep sea fishing) make up the majority of the highest paid professionals, (doctors, lawyers, dentists, pro atheletges, CEOs) and we don't get pregnant.

Does the wage gap exist?

In Europe no, anybody doing the same hours at the same job has to get the same wage by law.

In the US you can decide to give someone a lower wage because they aren't your religion, your color, your sex, or just because you don't like them. That's what the "wage gap" is about. The difference in pay for the same work, like for like. Those few women who are say roughnecks or deep sea fishers (yes, there are some), for example, do tend to get lower hourly rates (in the US) for the same work.

Does the wage gap exist?

Postby chansomps » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:59 pm

It exists only because many females are too lazy to carry their share of the social burden (meaning going to work and earning a living like men and paying taxes.) It's so much easier to live off the taxpayer by being 'single moms' with 7 children from 7 different fathers. The female of the human species is the only creature that can literally make money lying on her back.

Some women, especially skinny ones, have a gap near their groin when their legs are closed. Maybe that's what the feminists are talking about. Because, I don't know of any "wage" gap in the US.

Men do indeed earn more overall than women, but according to the Department of Labor, the very one's who collect the date, the "gap" is not due to discrimination, but is due to the fact men and women work differently.

Feminists of course, like focus on the gap, but make up their own reason, despite what the experts say.

Extremely through and lengthy report here, but you can get the basics in the intro:

http://www.consad.com/content/reports/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pdf

The idea that it's due to discrimination has been in the news lately as a way to gain the women's vote under the fair pay act, which of course has nothing to do with fair pay.
