I have seen the quote stating that" enlisted men bear watching"....i would like the entire quote or place to find it.  i have retired from the USMC after 20 years and have a "pee-ing" contest with a 4 year wonder who knows everything..please help

Great question.  “Enlisted Men Bear Watching”, stems from the Army Officers Guide Circa 1880’s.  

The actual full quote is …“Enlisted men are basically stupid.  However, they are sly and crafty and bear watching at all times.”

It is attributed to George Washington having said it.  However, there is no conclusive proof that he did say it. This full quote is cited in the 1978 Department of Defense Appropriations Act…however, it does not state its source. I hope this helps…if you need any more help feel free to email me.
