if the landlord is being unreasonable on eviction time, she can ask him to get a court order because she needs time to move. that will give her plenty of time. she tell the judge what she needs and he/she will decide from there.

According to Vermont laws, your friend is entitled to a 90 day notice to vacate. Have her print out the statute below to show her landlord.

BTW..she is NOT being "evicted". She is simply being told that her month to month tenancy is terminated.

depends if she has a signed yearly contract or not
no contract- she is there month to month and the landlord can do whatever they want ( if they give advance notice)

month to month means she has no say on if she has a place to stay for the next month
she can prorate the month ( that she lives there ) and pay 1/2

If it is a "no cause" eviction, the landlord is required to give her 60 days notice. Landlords often cheat if they think the tenant doesn't know any better. Check this link.

The landlord must give a 5 day notice to vacate and your friend does not have to pay any more money, the eviction process after the 5 days will take about 3 to 4 weeks.~~
