A few nights back my dog bit a youngster in the underside, the tiny a single is okay, we agreed to pay the physicians statement(he's a family members member of our neighbors) the dog has all of the vaccines, and has in no way bit any individual just before, the child may have triggered him. Your pet manage particular person he required to turn out to be quarantine, but didn't note for just how extended, whenever we visited choose him up they stated he needed to be there for 10 nights. i could not find any informative data on their site saying that it is authorized or compulsory to have him quarantined there.http://animalcontrol.co.la.ca.us/LawsOrdinances.aspso what im thinking, is when there is anyway i can swing them for all of us to home quarantine your dog?he's a relative, and its like he's in jail, we've been go to daily, and he's genuinely unfortunate. my mom has diabetes and this actually is influencing her quite gravely.thank you for just about any info you can provide.

I figured that was the reason(rabies testing) they were keeping him. I could not find that information either in the link you provided, though. I'm sure they feel it's "Better to be safe than sorry." You'll get your doggy back soon and he'll be sooooo happy!

Have you asked to home quarantine your dog?  It doesn't hurt to ask, if the answer is "no" ask "why?".  They'd have to show why you cannot keep your dog at home with you, wouldn't they?  Or at least explain it to you.  It may be a city or county ordinance.  It may be an issue with your dogs breed, for example a pit bull isn't a breed of dog but a type of dog bred for fighting.  Thus many places(apts for example) restrict the ownership of "pit bulls". Do you have proof of all vaccines?  Make copies for the authorities and the vicitm's family.  It'll put everyone's mind at ease and show you are a responsible pet owner. Is the dog being aggressive in confinement?  Maybe he misses you or there may be a problem.  Talk to the people in charge.  Can you leave his favorite toy or blanket there to comfort him?(if they won't let you take him home) Most of all, I'd suggest: you keep your cool, express interest in how well the child is healing/getting through the incident(he may not realize he provoked the incident and could be scarred by the fact he was bit) and talk to the authorities about the possibility of your doggy coming back into your household so everything can get back to normal.Dog bite law has some excellent generic advice.  For something more specific to your situation, contact your lawyer. The authorities may be helping you out by making sure your dog isn't vicious.  If they deem your dog is vicious you are liable for damages it may cause.  See the Jury Instructions for the California State Bar Litigation Section(page 8 to page 11).  This doesn't mean that you knew your dog was vicious to begin with.  The plaintiff needs to prove several points before winning a case against you. Good luck!

gb_one, regarding your answer "Appeal to them. Most people go into animal control because they LOVE animals, not because they want to punish owners.": thanks for ur response. they explained to me that they have to hold him for the health department to test for rabies, because he bit someone. thus he cant be home quarantine. we were also able to leave him his own bed so he can be a lil less home sick, he doesn't look too happy though, we will continue to visit hit everyday though. it feels like a long time to wait.
