Annlee is from The United States of America...State of KansasKansas: Today, wheat fields, oil-effectively derricks, herds of cattle, and grain-storage elevators are chief features of the Kansas landscape. A top wheat-developing state, Kansas also raises corn, sorghum, oats, barley, soybeans, and potatoes. Kansas stands high in petroleum production and mines zinc, coal, salt, and lead. Jackson, Mississippi Kkaren23 lives in Jackson, Mississippi. Jackson is in the portion of the United States known as the Deep South.  Reminders of beautiful antebellum homes, most of which were burned by Union soldiers during the civil war, gave Jackson the nickname "Chimneyville."  It is the capitol of Mississippi and is located in Hinds County.  It is also the county seat of the First Judicial District of Hinds County.  Raymond, Mississippi is the County Seat of the Second Judicial District of Hinds County. Jackson is on the Pearl River.  The Pearl floods its banks seldom, but when it does, there is tremendous damage to homes and businesses alike.  The International Ballet Competition is held here about every four years and we have a symphony and choral society.  One of my favorite things about Jackson is the Co-op where I can purchase organic fresh foods, canned and frozen foods and really good supplements year-round. It's also where I purchased the laptop I'm typing on.  The neighborhood in which I live is an older neighborhood and is undergoing revitalization.  It's a fun and diversified place to live.  We have other neat shops and to be the size we are(approx. 200,000 including 'bedroom communities'), we have an excellent selection of restaurants.  We are not far from Vicksburg(a/k/a 'Vicks-Vegas') where there are a few homes on Pilgrimmage tour, and Natchez which has several pilgrimmage tours year-round.  The time to do Pilgrimmage in Natchez, though, is spring when everything is blooming.  It's all gorgeous and the people in period costume lead the tours.  You can even stay in some of the homes which have B&B rooms in them.  Come visit us!  Who knows, maybe you'll spot Kkaren23!!  KKChickpea 63 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Canada here, west of North Vancouver   [This is not a paid advertisement!]    This area is known as the Sunshine Coast where it rains a lot in the winter months and there are fewer snowfalls of course. It's a great place for retired folks to enjoy small town living. If I may quote a bit:   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   The Lower Sunshine Coast, accessible by a 40-minute ferry ride, is a shortcut to paradise and to a cozy coastal lifestyle that embraces artists of international stature and a love of the great outdoors. This is a place for top-rated diving, boating, biking, hiking, golf and some of the greatest fishing in a province famous for the sport.   Here, in 1986, the local Sechelt First Nation was the first in Canada to be granted authority to manage its own land, an indication of the independent spirit nurtured in this place.   The town of Sechelt took its name from the Shishalh tribe of Coast Salish First Nations, who were notable traders and the first known residents. Catholic priests set up a mission and established the first permanent European Settlement in Sechelt in 1862.   Gibsons was founded by George Gibson in 1886, after a howling gale in which his boat was blown from Vancouver Island to the Strait of Georgia. By 1892, 100 settlers had claimed land between Langdale and Selma Park. By the turn of the 20th century(1900s), the Union Steamship Company connected the small communities along the coast, distributing their mail, supplies and news of the outside world. It also brought tourists, and with visitors came the establishment of summer homes, lodges, pubs and dance halls. Before long, Sechelt in particular earned a reputation as far afield as California as a spectacular summer retreat.   The Upper Sunshine Coast between British Columbia's Coast Mountains and the Pacific Ocean draws travelers from around the world to its natural beauty, complemented by attractions both rugged and restful that provide something to rekindle the spirits of visitors of all ages.   Rich in history, the region was once the home to more than 20,000 of the Coast Salish people of the Sliammon clan, whose presence can still be seen in the many archaeological sites scattered throughout the area and in the village of Sliammon located north of Power River.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~     Down by dockside.
