I am so happy to see other people helping children I started a knitting and crochet group at Dayton's Children's Medical Center to help children in need. We see so many kids coming in with nothing. It is such a good feeling to be able to help. Right now, I am knitting booties and hats in Christmas colors for the New Born Intensive Care Unit. Our group also makes hats for the chemo units, shawls for the bereavement team and socks or slippers for parents who bring a child to the emergency room and have to stay the night. You don't need to limit your search to Charlotte, NC. Last year, we made hats for a special project, Caps to the Capital, and sent them in. Making some blankets and sending them to you through the mail would not be that expensive. My own involvement came simply from a remark my husband made: "How many sweaters can you wear?" I have so much yarn and I just love to knit. It keeps my hands busy while watching TV, and now I have a great outlet for my creativity. You might be surprised how many people would love to help you. Good luck for your project, and let me know if I can help. Sources: My own experience DT 74 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment.
