Get ready for law school in high school?

Postby zacchaeus21 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 7:34 am

I'm a high school sophomore. I want to become a criminal justice attorney. What can I do to better myself and better impress colleges for this field.

Nothing you do in high school matters for law school; you need a 4-year college degree to apply to law school, and those are the only classes and grades they care about. And it doesn't matter what your college major was either.

Get ready for law school in high school?

not a lot you can do, but i'd question how hard you really want to work at becoming a criminal defense attorney. It is a very tough business to get into. These days law schools are creating WAY more lawyers then there are jobs for. The result is that a bunch of new lawyers are struggling. Who knows how it will be in 7+ years when you actually practice, but many of my former law school friends are having difficult times paying back the 100K+ of debt they have now that they are lawyers.

If it is your dream, go for it and don't let anything stop you! If you are just in it for the glory/money, the truth is there isn't a whole lot of it, especially in the criminal law field

There's not a whole lot, maybe take a few law courses if available but they're not necessary.
You pretty much just go for it in college, as I believe there really aren't any prerequisites.
