Green energy should not be funded?

Postby ear » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:48 pm

right now, we live off fossil fuels. Fact. But the gov't should not promote green energy because gas companies will slowly find it harder to find gas. as it gets harder, the price for consumers goes up, thus, once the price is too high, someone will develope a new technology thats cheaper and probably cleaner to use thats better than the crap the govt wants us to use and people will start using that more. Basic economics.

Green energy should not be funded?

The fact of the matter is that private industry, once politicized, has FAILED. Solyndra and solar something or other are excellent examples, but so many others exist, having been put on government assistance.
There are inventions in the solar industry that create the power of a thousand suns, in the size of a satellite dish. But they are too expensive to operate. Once the cost/productivity ratio is leveled, by science, engineering, and economics, this sort of thing will take off, no thanks to Uncle Sam.
Fossil fuels exist to keep us going another century or two. And that's what is known. The unknown, even as small as we are in the universe, is huge.

Green energy should not be funded?

The question in making money on a product is what will the public willingly, fully pay for in a world where many believe in entitlements, and not in paying the producer an adequate profit. Either the product must pay for the product directly or it must include in its creation and design a delivery system with sellable spin-off benefits. My solution includes sellable spin-off benefits that would create products for others buyers directed at comfort/convenience, recreation, & prestige. If you can think of others, please add them. Something must pay for the creation of this new energy system. Otherwise you will not get enough investors. Renewable Energy as discussed today by scientists in the media is more expensive than the energy used to create its infrastructure. Any investor in a Renewable Energy system will perish into bankruptcy unless sellable, spin-off benefits are designed into the system. Wherever possible each item within the system should do more than its original intended purpose of simply creating or delivering energy. My solution to the energy problem is similar to what was done in California nearly a century ago. It developed into a world class economy from essentially a desert. Look at the documentary “Cadillac Desert.” Everyone credits William Mulholland as being the genius for bringing water to Los Angeles. The true genius, Frank Wiggins, the President of the Los Angele’s Chamber of Commerce, barely gets a footnote in history. His idea – sell Los Angeles worldwide. Without doing this there was no justification in bringing the quantity of water to justify the cost, nor was there an adequate number of existing citizens already in place to be able to pay for it. We can solve this energy problem. But we must attack the problem indirectly by designing into the required infrastructure sellable, spin-off benefits instead. Economies require cheap energy. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me through e-mail.
