The Colorado labor law reads, "Employees shall be entitled to an uninterrupted and ‘duty free’ meal period of at least a thirty-minute duration when the scheduled work shift exceeds five consecutive hours of work. AND Every employer shall authorize and permit rest periods, which, insofar as practicable, shall be in the middle of each four-hour work period. A compensated ten-minute rest period for each four hours or major fractions thereof shall be permitted for all employees. Such rest periods shall not be deducted from the employee’s wages. It is not necessary that the employee leave the premises for said rest period."
My dad works from 7am until 3:30pm. He was told by his employer that he would now be getting a 10 minute break from 10:50a-11:00a, a lunch from 11:00a-11:30a, and his last break at 3:20p. That is like a 40 minute lunch and a 10 minute break at the end of the day.
Does this seem right or even legal to anyone? Seems a little wacky to me.
Thanks!!
