Hey guys, can i sign up for selective service even though...?

Postby byron92 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 5:05 am

I'm an illegal alien? Im going to apply for the Deferred action Process. and i've been researching on what documentation i should have to go apply. I was on a website and it said that they "recommend all males from ages 18-25 to go and register for the selective service regardless of immigration status, under federal law" is it possible for me to go in and register?

thanks in advance.. Please no negative remarks.. I'll will just ignore them.

If you are an immigrant male (documented or undocumented) living in the United States, age 18 through 25, you are required to register. You may submit your registration to the Selective Service by filling out the form at your nearest postal office!

All immigrant alien males, other than those admitted on nonimmigrant visas, must register, whether or not they have a green card.

This has never been brought up in all the time ive been here. Good question.
I'd go ask them, as they can give you the most through answer.
From what I know, you have to be a US Citizen 18 or older.
