How are public sector union workers not paying 100% of their own pensions and health care packages?

Postby jorian23 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 1:12 pm

Part of doing a job is being compensated for doing that job. Part of the compensation package for SOME public sector workers is health care and a pension or another type of retirement package. Workers can choose to deffer more of their wages into their retirement funds or take more away in their pay check. In reality public sector workers, just like private sector workers, are already paying for 100% of their benefits by doing the job in which they are being compensated to do.

Evidently then the problem is that the employer ( government ) steals the money . Government workers should NOT be exempt from Social Security as it figures in to + / - 35 % of the retirement . That is 6 % of a workers salary that they do not set aside .

because i pay for their pensions.

and governments who are controlled by unions can't cut benefits in economic hard times.

thus governments fun deficits, and now the private sector has to pay more taxes, and take benefit cuts.

It's like saying you don't pay for your own health care, your customers do..which I guess is true, but it's a silly distinction, and it is only made for public sector workers to try and smear them. More right wing lies debunked, good one.

they mostly choose to march in protest when it's pointed out that the government can no longer afford to carry the burden of an overly generous compensation package
