How can collect money to pay bills if unable to work? PLEASE HELP! NEED ADVISE?

Long story short i underwent knee surgery when i was 17. After 4 years of working and an active lifestyle, the pain in my knees has become unbearable. I have not visited a doctor yet but i can only assume, judging by the pain, that surgery will be necessary. I live at home, but do have my own expenses including a car payment. My main concern is how will i make these payments while recovering from injury? Is workers compensation an option even though the injury did not take place at my current job (although i am 100% positive my daily requirements did further damage)? Is it possible to receive social security disability income?

I am 21 years old and live in the state of New York. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Any way to ascertain/determine whether your job position did in fact attribute to further damage ? Past x-rays compared to present ones and in addition, any medical visits, where documentation is in black/white. To prove eligibility for disability income.....records of any kind to prove your case would be so valuable. If any consolation, thank goodness for modern day medical technology, 21 century style. Do make certain that your surgeon is BOARD CERTIFIED/ PASSED ALL CREDENTIALS THROUGH THE N.Y. Medical Board. To choose a physician that is not board certified, why would you ? Get everything straight with your insurance company. Some insurance companies require that they be informed before you are hospitalized. And time to time call your client and good talking them.

You can't get workers compensation because the injury didn't happen on the job. You may qualify for Social Security disability. There is a long process and you will need a doctors statement that you are not able to work
