How can I trademark a domain name?

Postby condan » Fri Dec 23, 2011 7:36 pm

What's the best and cheapest way to trademark a domain name? If anybody can supply and costs it would be great! This is just a domain name. No products involved. The name isn't even a real word.

Are there any workarounds? Like if I had a company and have the website as the company's official website.

The trademark should come independently and typically before the domain name, you can research and file one here. USPTO.gov

A company trademark is protected by US cyber-squatting laws from being misused in domain names.

You are really just renting a domain name, there is no way to take permanent control, paying 10 years in advance is about the closest thing.

For more hazy cases some companies proactively register the .net, .org, etc versions of their name in addition to the .com site to maintain control of at these most popular TLDs.
