People probably take advantage of you cause they know what an IDIOT you are.I work 12 hour shifts and sometimes I don't even have time to have any break. I work on a drilling rig and it's an old-school one with tongs and spinning chain, pretty hard work. I don't complain!
You get a 10 minute break for each work period of 4 hours, or a substantial portion of that. A "substantial portion" is OVER 2 hours, so one 10 minute break is right for a 6-hour shift. However, you should also be getting a 30 minute meal period since you are working more than 5 hours (which you and your employer can waive since you are not working more than 6 hours).Every employer is different. Ask them what their policy is. If you don't like it, look for other employment.
The fast food industry is rough - they don't like to give breaks.
