I am homeschooled so while my mom and her fiance are at work I'm here finishing up school. Well I was up all last night cramming work so I took a nap from 10 am to 3. Well long story short I slept all day by accident...bad I know lol. A family member was supposed to call me at 3 to wake me up, but for whatever reason the house phone was set to go straight to voicemail. Which is odd since it was working all morning. Three people called me today and the house phone never rang. I was woken up at 530 when I heard my mom yelling my name through the front door (we have a chain). I saw that the house phone right beside me said answer (like someone was on the phone) but my mom said it does that when it is set on voicemail. Weird...

Well here is why I think someone tried to break in. My mom just told me something creepy when she got home (she left the house a couple hours after returning home). She said that when she came up to the door at 5:30, it was open. The chain of course makes it to where people can't come in. She said she could see the living room through the crack and everything. She said she was afraid something happened to me since I didn't respond to her calling my name the first 5 minutes (I was sleeping lol). So we now think someone was trying to get in. I mean I clearly remember locking the door (and putting the chain on) when her fiance left for work. Over the past few months, we have done some remodeling and my mom and her boyfriend gave keys to the contractors so that they could work when they are at work. My mom's fiance is a lawyer and they know that, so maybe they wanted to snoop around and see if there was anything valuable upstairs? Who knows...But why would they just leave the door cracked? Could they have gotten startled to see that the chain was on which meant someone was home?

It really creeps me out since I was sleeping. I mean out of all days for this to happen, it's a day when I'm dead asleep. Like so asleep I was having the most realistic dreams lol. I'm usually up doing work during daytime, and my dog barks if she sees or hears anything. She must have today but I couldn't hear her of course. We are getting the locks changed tomorrow. Should my mom and her boyfriend approach the contractors or what?

Yeah, I know I'm probably just venting but I'm creeped out. This may sound dramatic, but could someone possibly be watching our place in the a.m. and see that my mom and her fiance leave around the same time in the morning? I only ask because someone called two weeks ago (they sounded like a business) and they asked if my car was parked in the driveway?? It was weird.

Dear Ashleigh,
Go with your suspicions and report it to the local authorities they could actually have other situations in your neighborhood that could increase patrol for your area. But be smart and report this or you could even be more surprised the next time.

That's a creepy story. It gives me the chills. You could have a cop patrol the street for a night. That's what my mom did when their was this creepy car driving slowly by our house at like 2 in the morning.

If you have a person of interest, it's best to check them out
