How do I know if my property management is reliable?

Having a dispute with a tenant or landlord? Rental Law discussion

How do I know if my property management is reliable?

Postby arvad » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:06 pm

I have a rental property and hire a property management to manage it. I requested copies of invoices of works that were done last month. I received copies with property management logo on invoices, i was hoping that i receive invoices from third party that did the work.
There's doubt in my mind now about my property manager, how do i find out that the work really done and all charges are for real works? Is it Ok if I contact tenant and ask them whether these jobs were done properly or not? I'm concern that they are creating dummy invoices without real problem with the property or charging more than it should be. How to handle this issue properly? Thanks in advance

There should be no problem asking the tenant if the supposed problems were taken care of. If the tenant never filed a complaint, then you know a false complaint was lodged and your managers are trying to stiff you. Personally, I think that's a great way to check on your property, which by the way, you own no matter the tenant or manager.
